Another Friday - Where do the weeks go?

I can't believe it's the end of another week already. Why do weeks in Summer go by so much faster than weeks in Winter? And how can we get that turned around?  One good thing about it being Friday is the Friday Blog Hop hosted by Crazy For Books. This weeks question is "Who is your favorite new-to-you author so far this year? I've actually found a lot of authors in the past year that I'd never read before and am quite excited now to read their other books. Edith Wharton and Stella Gibbons are wonderful, but topping them all is Willa Cather. I read "My Antonia" and absolutely loved it. She alone added 5 books to my tbr. I was very taken with her writing. It reminds me of John Denver's music. I always said you could hear the wind in his melodies and that's how I feel about Willa Cather. She writes the wind and the scent of the earth into her prose and it's utterly satisfying. If you're here from the hop, leave a comment so I can visit you. If you're here not from the hop, I recommend you give it a try. It's a treasure chest of  good people, good books, and good reviews.

May your weekend be full of fun, family and great books and may your tbr go forth and multiply!

I love the idea of a book that reminds you of John Denver music. My fav new to me author this year is Irish author Colm Toibin. I read The Master earlier this year and loved it. I will add My Antonia to my TBR. You can stop by The Book Nook here:

I've got Cather's O Pioneers on my shelf waiting to be read. It's a short one. Have you read it by chance?

I love how you said this--it's so true. I love Willa Cather. I've been wanting to read Stella Gibbons too.

(O Pioneers felt, to me, like the Prairie's coming of age story. I loved it.)

Willa Cather is a favorite of mine. I loved My Antonia, but Death Comes for the Archbishop really knocked me off my pins.

I am hopping by from Rose City Reader.

Will have to look Willa Cather. I've got Dorje Yudon Yuthok's biography on my mind since I'm currently reading House of the Turqoise Roof.
Come on over with a villain over at Aisle B. I'll be revealing my villain before the night is OUT ;O

Hello, a blog hopper visit from one of your followers;) This is a good excuse to drop in for a visit and stay awhile. I love Willa Cather, and My Antonia is, to my thinking, a beautiful book--very simple, but gorgeously written. Hope you have a great weekend!

Hopping by to return the visit! Thanks for your comment on the C.S. Lewis review--he just soothes the soul, doesn't he? And I think it's so cool that you're reading classic authors like Willa Cather--so much beauty to be found in older writings...and now you've got me humming John Denver's "Country Roads". :-)
